Privacy Policy

The Greater Manchester Dyslexia Centre (GMDC) is a small business that assesses and supports individuals who have dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) . In order to further our aims we provide products and services to individuals, groups and other interested parties.

This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information that we collect when you contact us or use our services.

By providing us with your personal information you accept and consent to the practices described in this policy.

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) the data controller is GMDC and the data protection officer is Ian Milston.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you contact us for example for training or assessments. We also collect information when you voluntarily provide background information prior to an assessment and participate in other events, for example training. All the information that we collect is held securely on our Computer Database.  

How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you to process your assessment, to inform our training packages and to process payments.  We will not pass on your information to other companies for marketing purposes and will only share it internally or externally in order to enable us to carry out the services you have requested.

Access to your information, correction and deletion, complaints

You can ask us to send you, or another organisation, certain types of information about you in a format that can be read by computer, we will ensure that electronic data is encrypted.

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email or write to us or contact Ian Milston ian@gmdyslexia.co.uk

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to delete the records that we hold about you.

We will hold data for three years after the assessment date after which time, paper copies will be shredded and electronic copies deleted.

You may also complain about the way that we process your personal data.
